The University Celebrates its 219th Anniversary

The history of Karazin Kharkiv National University began in 1804. The illustrious history of this distinguished educational institution.

219 years of the university, gathering the nation's best and brightest, nurturing a constellation of scholars, and developing talented youth.

Undoubtedly, Karazin is the flagship of science and education in Ukraine.

The university boasts one of the most powerful academic and scientific communities in Ukraine. Although many of us are now scattered around the world and the country, we are still together with Karazin. Because this connection is stronger than distance!

The university puts effort into preserving the community, an intellectual foundation for the rebuilding and development of Kharkiv and the country. Currently, the university employs 406 doctors of science, 1,148 candidates of science, professors, and associate professors, who educate over 14,000 students.

In particular, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024, Karazin is one of the best Ukrainian universities of the decade! The institution secured a position of 691–700 globally. Additionally, the university maintains its leadership among Ukrainian higher education institutions:

  • In terms of the student-to-faculty ratio;
  • In the number of foreign faculty members.

Importantly, despite the war, the university is a leader in scientific productivity. In terms of the number of scientific articles indexed in reputable bibliographic databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, Karazin University is second among Ukrainian institutions.

Behind each of these victories, behind each high position in international rankings, are people, our Karazinites. This is your celebration, your achievements!
