From January 12 to 16, 2026, the kick-off meeting of the international consortium of the Erasmus+ SAFE LEARN project — “Supporting Adaptive and Flexible Education for Students Affected by the War in Ukraine” — took place in Kaunas, Lithuania, hosted by Mykolas Romeris University.

The event brought together representatives of universities from Ukraine and European Union countries and served as a platform for exchanging experience, discussing current challenges, and shaping a shared vision of the project’s goals and expected outcomes.
V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was represented by Tetyana Holovatenko, Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute “Teachers' Academy”; Tetyana Datsenko, Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute “Teachers' Academy”; and Inha Fedotova, Professor of the Department of Fundamental Medical Training of the Second School of Medicine.
During the meeting, partners were introduced to Karazin University’s experience in organizing the educational process under wartime conditions, approaches to supporting students and faculty, as well as preliminary results of research into the needs of the academic community, particularly in the context of implementing trauma-informed teaching.
The meeting enabled Ukrainian and European partners to identify priority areas for cooperation at the initial stages of project implementation, agree on further steps regarding work packages, and plan the piloting of training programs for academic staff.
The outcomes of the meeting laid a solid foundation for further productive work within the SAFE LEARN project.
