Interdisciplinary Interactive Lesson for School Students Held at Karazin University on the Occasion of Europe Day

On May 7, 2025, Karazin University hosted an interdisciplinary interactive lesson for school students from Kharkiv and the region, dedicated to Europe Day. The session focused on the origins of European integration, the formation of the European Union as a global political actor, and the analysis of contemporary challenges facing Brussels.

The event was organized by Karazin University and the municipal institution “Kharkiv Regional Small Academy of Sciences of the Kharkiv Regional Council.” The lesson was held as part of the project "Eastern Ukrainian Centre of European Studies" / EAUCES (ERASMUS-JMO-2024-COE 101176972).

The head of the student club “History of International Relations,” Associate Professor of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of the School of History and EAUCES project participant Dmytro Chenchyk, delivered a lesson titled “Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman: Founding Fathers of United Europe.” The participants learned about the key figures behind the idea of European unity, how the plan for economic integration was developed, and why France and Germany became the cornerstone nations in the early stages of unification.

Professor Dmytro Mykolenko, Head of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History and coordinator of the EAUCES project, conducted an online quiz titled “European Integration: History and Modernity.”

Associate Professor Olena Chernenko of the Department of International Relations, Education and Research Institute “Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business,” conducted a lesson titled “Information and Cybersecurity in the European Union: Standards and Threats.” The session explored how the EU responds to cyberattacks, combats cybercrime and disinformation, what policies are being implemented to protect the information and cyber domain, and how this experience can be adapted and used by Ukraine.
