A meeting with Volodymyr Viatrovych was held at Karazin University as part of the historical lecture series "How to Defeat Russia: Ask a Historian"
On October 18, as part of the series "How to Defeat Russia: Ask a Historian," historian, publicist, politician, public figure, and author of numerous books, including "UPA: The Story of the Unconquered," "Notes from the Kitchen of 'Rewriting History,'" and "Our Century: Brief Essays on a Long War," Volodymyr Viatrovych visited Kharkiv.
The event was moderated by Vakhtang Kipiani, historian and serviceman of the 13th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine "Khartia." He initiated the series of historical lectures "How to Defeat Russia: Ask a Historian."
The meeting with Volodymyr Viatrovych, held with the support of the Yermilov Center at Karazin University and Vivat publishing house, was attended by about 100 people. The profound and insightful discussion on the importance of the historical context of the war left no one indifferent.
"We must be the ones who can convey a non-russian version of russia’s history to the world. Unfortunately, due to historical events, no one understands this history better than us... The world must see that this is not about russia, but about hundreds of oppressed peoples, histories, and crimes that were committed in this territory, which eventually enabled the creation of this terrible empire... In this way, we can make a significant step towards the disintegration of russia," Viatrovych stated.
At the end of the lecture, attendees asked Mr. Volodymyr numerous questions and expressed sincere gratitude for the engaging, inspiring, and valuable meeting.
