On May 11, 2025, the Student Self-Government (OSS) School was held at Karazin University, organized by the Ukrainian Student League with the participation and support of the Student Council of Karazin University.

The event brought together student self-government representatives from over ten higher education institutions in Kharkiv. Throughout the intensive day, participants discussed current challenges and opportunities for the development of student self-government bodies, deepened their knowledge of the structure and functioning of OSS, and took part in lectures, training sessions, and practical modules.

Among the speakers at the OSS School were Mykyta Kucherov, Ivan Veretbnyi, Oleksandra Kalinichenko, and Khrystyna Saveiko. They shared their practical experience and insights on the institutional nature of OSS, the importance of structural stability, maintaining effective communication with their student communities, the key role of communication in audience engagement, and the fundamentals of project management in self-governance. The knowledge and advice shared were useful both for experienced OSS members and for those just beginning their journey.

A key part of the event program was the educational game “The Ideal OSS”, during which teams solved situational cases, worked through response strategies for complex situations, and presented their own visions of an effective student self-government model.

The OSS School concluded with the presentation of the teams' developed solutions and a closing ceremony. Participants gained new knowledge, practical tools, valuable mentorship advice, and inspiration for continuing their work and advancing student self-governance in their universities.
