Karazin University hosted a lecture as part of the international project The Filibuster for Democracy Lecture Series. The event in Kharkiv became the third in a cycle of public talks dedicated to the tactics and challenges of democratic movements in the modern world.

The speaker was Arun Chaudhary — an American political communications expert, the first official White House videographer in the Barack Obama administration, a media strategist with experience in U.S. presidential campaigns, and a consultant for democratic movements in different countries around the world.

He previously delivered lectures at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and at the University of Brussels. For the final meeting, he chose Ukraine, emphasizing that our experience is of extraordinary importance in the global context of information wars and democratic transformations.

During his talk, Arun Chaudhary highlighted the key aspects of the impact of social media on electoral processes, the role of creativity in political campaigns, and the dangers of manipulation in the digital environment. He stressed that today Ukraine’s context is one of the frontlines of the modern information war and, therefore, has much to teach the global democratic community.

The lecture sparked strong interest among the university’s students and faculty, who joined the discussion and asked many questions about practical tools to counter disinformation and build trust within society.
