A Meeting of the Academic Council Held at Karazin University

On 24 November 2025, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted a regular meeting of the Academic Council. Among the key items on the agenda, the members of the Council supported the awarding of the academic title of Associate Professor to:

  • Valentyna Sverdlichenko — Department of Civil Law Disciplines;

  • Larysa Sichevska — Department of Molecular and Medical Biophysics.

Elections were also held for the positions of department heads, including the Department of Theoretical and Applied Informatics and the Department of Management, Accounting and Business Communications.

Vice-Rector for Administrative and Human Resources Work Volodymyr Dobrelya reported on the development of safety competencies among participants in the educational process under emergency conditions and external threats. An equally important discussion concerned the directions of modernizing educational programs for future educators and managers in the field of education, with the participation of Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching Liliia Hrynevych.

The Academic Council supported decisions on optimizing the structure of the University, in particular the activities of the Education and Research Institute “Institute of Public Administration.”

The Council approved, in a new edition, the following:

  • Regulations on the School of Economics;

  • Regulations on the Education and Research Institute “Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business”;

  • Regulations on the Education and Research Institute “Karazin School of Business”;

  • Regulations on the Education and Research Institute “Karazin Banking Institute”;

  • and a number of other regulations concerning educational institutes, departments, commissions, and quality assurance procedures.

The Academic Council adopted decisions regarding:

  • the closure of certain educational programs and their removal from the Unified State Electronic Education Database (EDEBO);

  • the redistribution of vacant state-funded places;

  • the approval of certificate educational programs and updated editions of certificate programs for cycles of secondary medical specialization, specialization cycles for individuals with higher non-medical education working in healthcare, as well as internship and thematic improvement cycles;

  • the approval of reports on the results of projects funded by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

The meeting also approved the open-access publication of several electronic journals and collections, the approval for printing of more than 20 issues of the University’s professional academic journals, as well as the publication of scientific monographs, practical manuals and textbooks.

A separate decision established a one-time specialized academic council for the defense of the dissertation by Nataliia Plotnik in the specialty “Public Administration and Governance.” The meeting also addressed matters related to the recognition of doctoral specialties and the approval of topics for doctoral dissertations.
