On May 22, the Heinrich Semiradsky Art Gallery at Karazin University hosted the opening of an exhibition featuring the paintings of renowned Kharkiv artist Heorhii Berezhnyi.

Honored guests and friends gathered to congratulate the artist on this occasion, including Nataliia Ivanova, Director of the YermilovCentre for Contemporary Art; Oleksandr Moroz, Head of the Vysokyi Township; and philanthropist Yurii Korsunskyi.

A lawyer by education, Heorhii Berezhnyi is a self-taught artist who has spent decades developing his unique style. After concluding his legal career, he devoted himself fully to art and travel. It was during a round-the-world voyage that he created his first sketches — the foundation for the many seascapes infused with a deep emotional connection to nature.

His paintings are more than images — they are emotional journeys: lyrical everyday scenes, powerful landscapes, distinctive portraits. In all of them, there is harmony, careful observation, and a deep affection for the world. In total, the artist has created over 7,000 works, but this exhibition showcases a curated selection of paintings from recent years — a fresh summary of his creative path.

The event was supported by the exhibition’s partner, the company “Dim Optiky” (House of Optics).

The exhibition will run through June 5, 2025, at the following address: 6 Svobody Square, North Building of Karazin University, Heinrich Semiradsky Art Gallery (entrance from the Derzhprom side).
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 18:00.
Admission is free.
