World of Science at Karazin University
On September 30th at Karazin University, anyone interested had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of magical discoveries and experiments.
23 schools and institutes of Karazin University organized scientific events. Participants had the chance to explore various exhibitions and demonstrations. Karazin's scientists put on a great variety of experiments and research. The real show took place at the schools of natural science.
The day was also filled with interactive activities. Participants took part in career orientation and team games, solved puzzles, tested their logic, and received sweet gifts!
The School of Biology held an event called "The World of Animals and Plants." Visitors saw a variety of living organisms, including a spider-bird, leeches, Madagascar cockroaches, marble crayfish, and bizarre plants. Under a microscope, they could observe the mouthparts of a mosquito and various parasites.
The School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism prepared an exhibition titled "The Mysterious World of Precious Stones." In addition to incredible minerals and semi-precious stones, science enthusiasts could use topographic instruments.
If you wanted to play "What? Where? When?" you could head to the School of Economics. This team-based game was organized by Karazin's economists. The School of History impressed with archaeological findings and reconstructions. Participants could not only examine these artifacts but also take part in a restoration workshop.
The School of Foreign Languages presented an exhibition called "Calligraphy - From Antiquity to the Present" and organized a career orientation game called "Choose a Language." At the event of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, participants pondered over mathematical puzzles and optical illusions.
The Medical School conducted workshops on emergency aid, crucial knowledge in today's world. Participants could also "look into the eyes" of infectious agents under a microscope.
The School of Mechanical Engineering and Transport Technologies transported participants to a resort atmosphere with their interactive activities. The School of Psychology revealed the secrets of thoughts and feelings through workshops and mobile games on this topic. Near the School of Radio Physics, Biomedical Electronics, and Computer Systems, there was a real disco: music, shiny lights, and demonstrations of radio physics phenomena!
At the exhibition of the School of Sociology, participants learned whether artificial intelligence can change education and explored the main attributes of fantasy. And this is just a glimpse of the sociologist's boat in the park of society.
The School of Physics put on a real physical fireworks display! There was even music that could create patterns. It looked magical, but the explanation was simple: sound waves caused a plate to vibrate, creating patterns on the surface.
The School of Philology immersed participants in the artistic and scientific world. Participants saw over 40 pieces of literature authored by researchers, teachers, and alumni. The School of Philosophy invited everyone to an intellectual discussion.
The School of Chemistry demonstrated real experiments. Some of them worked like a "chemical clock," with reactions occurring not immediately but after a certain time, quite suddenly.
The School of Law taught participants the basics of criminology. Thanks to demonstrations of research and a forensic exhibition, no crime would go unpunished.
The Educational and Scientific Institute of Ecology prepared experiments on water quality, fruit, vegetables, and soil toxicity. Participants could also measure noise levels and the loudness of their own voices. At the location of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Public Administration, you could develop your managerial skills, take part in an interactive quiz, and get predictions about your future!
The Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Physics and Energetics showcased various devices, including lasers and thermal imagers. Participants were immersed in the world of electromagnetism through demonstrations by the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics and Technology. Participants witnessed incredible experiments and research, including the Curie Point, Ørsted's experiments, Thomson's coil, Magic Lamps, Chain Fountain, Radon Catcher, and more.
At the same time, participants could visit the simulation center of the School of Medicine, "LandauCenter," the Museum of Archaeology, and the Institute of Astronomy.
Pupils, university students, and all interested residents of Kharkiv gained a wealth of knowledge, scientific insights, and a tremendous amount of positive emotions.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the events. Thank you for promoting science!
