Working Meeting within the Project 'Gender Education for Foreign Students' (Supported by UNESCO)
A working meeting within the project "Gender Education for Foreign Students" under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine took place at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
The project is implemented by the NGO "La Strada - Ukraine" in collaboration with V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, Katerina Levchenko, with financial support from UNESCO. Its goal is to introduce gender approaches to the education of foreign students in Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by the administration of Karazin University, led by Rector Tetiana Kaganovska, who welcomed the participants at the beginning of the event.
Welcoming remarks were also made by the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, Katerina Levchenko, and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Zorian Kis.
During the meeting, Dean of the School of Sociology, Olena Muradian, presented the results of a sociological study on the presence of gender competencies conducted in the summer of 2023 among students from African countries and teachers at Karazin University who work with them.
Participants discussed the research findings and planned further work within the project, which aims to spread knowledge about the importance of gender equality, especially in education, among all participants in the educational process. This includes the preparation of African students studying in Ukraine, using Karazin University as an example.
The working group continues to implement the project, with plans to conduct training sessions with students and teachers, develop an online course, and create educational and methodological materials with expert support from partner institutions.
