Educational Event Honouring Hryhorii Skovoroda
On 23 December 2025, at the initiative of the P. T. Tronko Centre for Ukrainian Studies and Local History and the Central Scientific Library, in cooperation with the Kharkiv Branch of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, an educational event was held to honour Hryhorii Savych Skovoroda.
The participants were welcomed by Serhii Kudelko, Director of the P. T. Tronko Centre for Ukrainian Studies and Local History; Olha Vovk, Deputy Director of the Centre and Head of the Kharkiv Branch of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine; and Olena Babicheva, Deputy Director of the Central Scientific Library.
As part of the event, Anna Stoliarova, an Honorary Local Historian of Ukraine, delivered a report in which she outlined Hryhorii Skovoroda’s connections with the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions. She spoke about the traditions of studying his legacy and commemorating the outstanding philosopher through the lens of her own family history. The speaker also emphasised the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Hryhorii Skovoroda (in 2022), which took place under the difficult conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In addition, Anna Stoliarova donated to the holdings of the Central Scientific Library a copy of the jubilee collection of scholarly papers “Pereiaslav Skovoroda Studies” with a dedication reading:
“May the thoughts of scholars serve students as tools for the development of the mind, so that they may become the first minds of Ukraine!”
