Today, Vadym Huttsait, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, paid a working visit to V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. During the visit, he familiarized himself with the current state of the university’s sports infrastructure, including the sports complex damaged by the war, as well as with activities in the field of physical education and sports.

Special attention was given to the Unifecht fencing club, which operates at Karazin University and is renowned far beyond Ukraine. This is where numerous champions— of the Olympic Games, World, European, and Ukrainian championships — have been trained. “This is one of the main centers of fencing in our country,” emphasized Vadym Huttsait during his visit to the club.

The meeting was also attended by Valerii Dema, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Branch of the NOC of Ukraine; Kostiantyn Ananchenko, Head of the Department for Youth and Sports of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration; Anatolii Babichev, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching at the University; as well as athletes, coaches, and trainees of the club.

Despite the difficult conditions and damaged sports infrastructure, the university, together with its coaching staff, continues to support the work of Unifecht. Students, children, and adults actively train at the club and proudly represent Karazin University at numerous national and international competitions.

Karazin University continues to uphold its sports traditions and creates opportunities for the development of physical culture even in challenging times. Together — towards new victories!
