From June 23 to 27, 2025, Anna Andrusyshyna, Chief Curator of the collections at the Museum of Archaeology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, participated in a professional internship program in Paris, France.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Defense of France, the French Institute in Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in France, the Louvre Museum, the Blue Shield France Foundation, the ALIPH Foundation, the Ukrainian Institute in France, and the Center for Research and Restoration of Museums of France.
The aim of the event was to exchange experience with colleagues from France, Switzerland, and Lebanon in the field of cultural heritage protection. The participants attended an event dedicated to strengthening cooperation in the cultural sphere, which was also attended by the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi, and the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. In their speeches, they emphasized the strong cultural ties and support for Ukrainian culture.
The participants visited the exhibition halls of the Louvre, storage facilities, and the restoration center, where they learned from their French colleagues about methods and tools for preserving museum collections. An important part of the program was the public presentation by Ukrainian specialists on the preservation of collections and museums during wartime, which took place at the Louvre Library.
The participants also took part in evacuation drills organized together with the Reims Museum and Blue Shield France. This proved to be a valuable exchange of experience among specialists.
The insightful presentations of French colleagues on legal issues, the preservation of collections in museums, inventory processes, and protection at the national and international levels provided invaluable knowledge that will contribute to further deepening contacts and consultations among professionals.
We are grateful to the organizers for this unique opportunity for professional development and the establishment of international cooperation!
