Practical Training Program "Basic Mediation Course" and Specialized Course "Social Mediation in the Community"

Karazin University announces a call for applications to participate in the practical training program “Basic Mediation Course” and the specialized course “Social Mediation in the Community.”

This program is implemented within the framework of the UNICEF project “Introducing a Pilot Trauma-Informed Approach to Mental Health, Psychological Support, and Mediation,” carried out by V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) through the KfW Development Bank, and co-funded by the European Union.

This program is suitable for:

  • social workers, lawyers, and psychologists from social protection institutions in the communities of Kharkiv region;

  • leaders and members of NGOs working in the field of social protection in the Kharkiv region;

  • representatives of local self-government bodies.

Program Start Date: August 11, 2025

The offline session is scheduled for November 7–10, 2025.

Participation in the program is free of charge (transportation, hotel accommodation, and meals for offline events are covered by the project).

Key components of the program:

  • online learning;

  • online and offline simulations (practical training);

  • individual assignments;

  • learning materials;

  • mentorship support;

  • supervision;

  • networking, etc.

The number of participants is limited!

Upon successful completion, participants will receive certificates.

Main selection criteria:

  • The applicant must work in a social protection institution in the Kharkiv region (priority communities: Bohodukhiv, Valky, Krasnokutsk, Izium, Balakliia, Kehychivka, Shevchenkove, Lozova, Zlatopil, Pisochyn, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv);

  • The applicant must represent a municipal non-profit organization, NGO in the field of social protection, or a local self-government body;

  • Motivation of the applicant (Why should you be selected for the program?);

  • Willingness and ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practical activities;

  • Readiness to actively participate in the 9-week training (both online and offline). The program includes intensive online sessions three times per week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) as well as consultations throughout the week;

  • Willingness to participate in supervisions during the implementation of the service and to provide information for project monitoring;

  • Availability of technical resources (internet access, computer or laptop, webcam, microphone) to ensure full participation in online training.
