Honorary doctor of the university, Ukrainian writer Serhii Zhadan became a laureate of the Peace Prize of German Booksellers
On June 27, the German Association of Publishers and Book Distributors announced that Serhii Zhadan, Honorary Doctor of Karazin University, Ukrainian writer and poet, became a laureate of the Peace Prize of German Booksellers.
The award ceremony will take place on October 23, 2022 at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
"We honor this Ukrainian author and musician for his outstanding artistic activity and clear humanitarian position, which constantly prompts him to risk his own life to help people affected by war and to draw more attention to their situation," the website of Peace Prize of German Booksellers wrote.
On his Facebook page, Serhii Zhadan thanked for awarding this year's Peace Prize. The writer also noted the importance of Ukraine becoming a subject for discussion at the Frankfurt Book Fair, where this award is presented, because Ukraine needs informational support as well as weapons.
