5 september 2025 year

With deep sorrow, we inform you that last night, Yuri Oleksiyovych Kirochkin passed away — a graduate of the Nuclear Division of Kharkiv State University (now Karazin University) in 1957, Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical Nuclear Physics and Higher Mathematics named after O. I. Akhiezer (now the Department of Nuclear and High Energy Physics named after O. I. Akhiezer), and a legend of the School of Physics and Technology.

Yuri Oleksiyovych was an outstanding teacher and a wonderful person. He served as Head of the Department of Nuclear and High Energy Physics named after O. I. Akhiezer from 1973 to 1979.

More than one generation of physicists will remember him for his masterful teaching of the Electrodynamics course. He was a very cheerful and lively person, often joking. For his students, he will forever remain not just a lecturer but a true mentor who supported, helped, and inspired.

We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Yuri Oleksiyovych. Eternal memory.
