
Professor Serhii Naumov of the School of History Has Passed Away: The University Extends Its Condolences
With deep sorrow, we announce the untimely passing of Professor Serhii Oleksandrovych Naumov of the School of History following a sudden and severe illness.
Serhii Naumov studied at the School of History of Karazin University from 1977 to 1982, graduating with honors.
His professional academic and teaching career at the university began in 1982 as a trainee at the School of History. From 1983 to 1986, he pursued postgraduate studies. Over the years, he served as a lecturer, later an associate professor, and since 2007, a professor at the Department of Ukrainian History.
Throughout his career, Professor Naumov held various administrative and academic positions, including academic secretary of the school's academic council, head of the educational and methodological commission, and deputy dean. He was also a member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in historical sciences and actively participated in the specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations in history. Additionally, he served on the editorial boards of professional academic journals.
For many years, Professor Naumov contributed to the III (regional) stage of the All-Ukrainian History Olympiad as one of the task authors and chaired the jury of the history section of the Junior Academy of Sciences competition in Kharkiv region.
He was the author of over 100 scholarly and popular science publications.
His research focused on the Ukrainian national movement in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. He also taught pre-diploma seminars for bachelor's and master's students, as well as courses and special courses on modern Ukrainian history, the Ukrainian National Revolution, political movements in Dnieper Ukraine, and pressing issues in Ukrainian history.
