On August 17–18, the European Rapid Chess Championship for boys and girls took place in Prague, Czech Republic.

Roman Degtyaryov, a first-year student at the Karazin Institute of International Relations and Tourism Business, became the silver medalist at the European Rapid Chess Championship.
