15 may 2025 year

Olha Maksakova, Senior Research Fellow at the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology,” has been awarded the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Prize for Young Scientists for 2024.

This prestigious award was granted for her work titled "Structure and Properties of Composite Nanoscale Coatings as High-Performance Multifunctional Materials."

The award is yet another confirmation of the high level of experimental research conducted by scientists in the natural sciences at Karazin University — a level that has been maintained even under current challenging conditions.

Notably, Olha Maksakova was a finalist in the L’Oréal–UNESCO “For Women in Science” competition in Ukraine in 2023. Between 2023 and 2025, she received international grants for research internships in Slovakia and Austria, participated in scientific research under the EURIZON FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME, and coordinated cooperation with a European partner — the Institute of Materials Science at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.

We sincerely congratulate Ms. Olha on this outstanding achievement and thank her for her contribution to the advancement of Ukrainian science and the preservation of Karazin University’s physics research traditions!
