Research Seminar on the Military Aspect of the Modernization of Southeastern European Countries in the First Half of the 20th Century

On 22 December 2025, a regular research seminar was held by the Marin Drinov Center for Bulgarian and Balkan Studies, dedicated to the military aspect of the modernization of Southeastern European countries during the first half of the 20th century.

The speaker of the event was Serhii Falko, Associate Professor at the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the application of modernization theory, the activities of military missions of various European countries in the Balkans, and the impact of Western practices implemented in the region.

The seminar brought together not only students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, but also historians from different academic institutions in Kharkiv and Bulgaria.

The presentation sparked an active exchange of views and a lively discussion.
