Ukrainian scientists have gained international recognition by becoming laureates of the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics — often referred to as the "Oscars of Science." This year, the award was granted to four international research collaborations of the Large Hadron Collider (ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, and ALICE) for groundbreaking discoveries in the field of quantum physics.

Among the honored scientists are representatives of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, who contributed to the LHC experiments ALICE, CMS, and LHCb. These include Head of the Department of Crystal Physics, Professor Borys Hryniv, and alumni of the School of Physics and Technology — Serhii Kandybei, Viktor Trubnikov, Illia Shapoval, Vitalii Lisovskyi, and Anatolii Dovbnia (1940–2020). Their significant contributions advanced the understanding of the quantum nature of matter, the early stages of the Universe, and fundamental properties of elementary particles.

Karazin University remains an active participant in international research at CERN, supporting the development of cutting-edge technologies and engaging young people in global science. Even in challenging times, Ukrainian scientists continue to explore the deepest mysteries of the Universe — with faith in the power of science and the future of Ukraine.
