From October 1 to 3, researchers of the Educational and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took part in the 54th International Conference on Engineering Pedagogy “ICL—2025 Innovation via Collaborative Learning in Engineering Education,” held in Budapest, Hungary, at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). The conference combined the 28th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning and the 54th IGIP International Conference on Engineering Pedagogy.

This year, the event was conducted in a hybrid format. The conference organizers included the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP), the International Association of Online Engineering, and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).

At the conference, researchers from the Education and Research Institute “UIPA” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University presented the Erasmus+ project Cread4Teach: MOOC-Based Micro-Credentials for Teachers’ Professional Development.

This year, 13 papers were presented at the conference, including five in-person presentations. In particular, Oleksandr Kupriianov presented “Accreditation of Micro-Credential Programs: Qualimetric Approaches to Quality Assessment,” Tetiana Bondarenko delivered a presentation “MOOC as an Innovative Approach to Educational Interaction in the Training of Future Specialists,” Maryna Vasylieva presented “Developing Social Responsibility of Vocational Education Teachers as a Global Competence,” Yuliia Fedorova shared research results on “Enhancing Emotional Intelligence for Generation Z Entrepreneurship: A Digital Perspective,” and Jürgen Köberlein-Kerler, together with Ukrainian researchers, presented “Different Levels of Access to Artificial Intelligence (AI): A Deep Dive into OpenAI and DeepSeek.”

Eight additional presentations were held online via Microsoft Teams, covering topics such as:

  • Managing Educational and Cognitive Activities in Distance Learning
  • Developing Fundraising Skills of Future Computer Engineering Educators
  • Training Teachers for the Food Industry Based on the Principles of TRIZ Theory
  • Developing Professionally Oriented Course Content in Electrical Engineering for Mechanical Engineering Students
  • Abolition of the Russian Language in Eastern Ukraine: Psycholinguistic, Sociolinguistic, and Educational Perspectives
  • Qualimetric Approaches to Assessing Education Quality Using Fractal-Cluster Analysis
  • Digitalization of the Educational Environment as a Factor in Developing Communicative Competence of Engineering and Pedagogical Staff
  • Using a Digital Twin to Create Adaptive Simulators in Nuclear Power Plant Operator Training

The paper by Hanna Hrynchenko and Andrii Matsko, “Qualimetric Approaches to Assessing the Quality of Education Using Fractal-Cluster Analysis,” was recognized as the best paper of the conference.

V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was represented by Iryna Shteimiller, Head of the International Relations Office; Roman Nesterenko, Deputy Head of the International Relations Office; and Iryna Khotchenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Oriental Languages and Intercultural Communication.
