The World’s Largest Space Hackathon, NASA Space Apps Challenge, Returns

22 september 2025 year

the NGO Association Noosphere is organizing the local stage of the event, this time in a hybrid format: online across the country and offline in Dnipro.

NASA Space Apps Challenge (October 4–5, 2025) is a 48-hour hackathon during which participants, united in teams, tackle one of the practical challenges. All challenges are focused on solving humanity’s problems by using NASA’s open space data. For instance, participants may propose an idea for a web application to analyze local environmental issues, create a visualization of solar flares, develop an engaging game to teach astronomy in schools, or even present a creative project — the possibilities are endless!

This year’s hackathon theme is Learn, Launch, Lead. Global organizers encourage participants to Learn valuable STEM skills, Launch solutions that transform NASA’s open data into practical tools, and Lead the community toward technological change.

The event will take place in a hybrid format: both online and offline. Anyone from anywhere in the world can join. Students, researchers, analysts, programmers, designers, writers, makers, engineers, developers, biologists, and all those interested in space are welcome to participate.

Registration is available via the link. Participation is free of charge!

The Association Noosphere has been organizing the local stage in Dnipro for nine consecutive years. Over the past 8 years of NASA Space Apps Challenge, participants from the Dnipro location have prepared many successful projects. Several teams that won at the local stage in Dnipro went on to achieve success globally. For example, in 2017 the team Spacer was ranked among the world’s Top 10 in the People’s Choice category, and in 2020 the team FireWay won the Best Use of Technology award. The team NEXT SPACE LAB in 2022 and Craft Lab in 2024 were included in the list of 40+ best teams worldwide (Global Finalists Honorable Mentions).

In fact, the last two years of the Dnipro stage have set records, gathering over 500 participants from Ukraine, Greece, Lithuania, Norway, and Canada, who created more than 100 projects in total.
