Opening of the Veteran Development Center at Karazin University

30 august 2023 year

On August 29, thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry for Veterans Affairs and the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the Veteran Development Center was inaugurated at Karazin University.

The center aims to organize and conduct events related to career guidance, and individual professional development for veterans and their family members, and to provide educational services.

The Education and Research Institute "Institute of Public Administration", Law, and Sociology Schools, and the School of Psychology and Medicine have developed certificate programs, advanced training and retraining courses, preparatory courses, and second higher education programs for veterans and their families.

The Rector of Karazin University, Tetiana Kaganovska, remarked, "Our educators can teach and inspire. This is what we can offer our warriors, our veterans. It's a small token of gratitude for what you have done and continue to do for the independence of our country."

The Institute of Public Administration will focus on integrating veterans into a peaceful life through education. Importantly, the Institute's educational programs enable veterans to actively participate in government affairs and decision-making processes within public authorities.

The School of Sociology is dedicated to forming effective mechanisms for veterans' reintegration and rehabilitation, including advanced training courses. The School of Medicine has devised an integrated process for working with veterans encompassing physical and medical rehabilitation, psychological rehabilitation, and social readaptation.

The School of Psychology offers a training program for assistants to veterans, expanding their understanding of psychological behavioral patterns.

At the center's opening, attendees included Tetiana Kalita, the Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization; Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Sinyhubov; Chairperson of the Kharkiv Regional Council, Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko; and the Mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terehov.

Tetiana Kalita commented on the center's opening: "It is symbolic that on August 29 the Veteran Development Center has been inaugurated —a place where veterans can find assistance in realizing their potential in civilian life. Today, this is already the seventh center in Ukraine. This is the place where veterans can exchange experiences and understand that in civilian life they can gain specific skills and move forward."

Oleh Sinyhubov emphasized: "Caring for our military personnel should be a top priority not after victory, but right now. A significant number of people require our attention, the attention of the state. Our task is to fill this center with content that will benefit our heroes."

Karazin University will provide assistance to veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war. We are confident that this is just the first step on an important path of supporting our heroes!
