On December 17, a forum titled "Cooperation between the Ombudsman’s Office and the Public: Challenges of War and Human Rights" was held in the safe space of Karazin University. The event was supported by the UNDP projects "Transformative Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine," implemented with funding from the Government of Japan, and "Human Rights for Ukraine, Phase II," funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
The forum opened with welcoming remarks from the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Yevhen Ivanov, and First Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, Oleksandr Novak.
According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, the purpose of the forum was to develop concrete additional proposals and initiatives that can be collectively implemented to achieve the stated goals.
Among the attendees were representatives of charitable and civil society organizations, as well as executive and legislative branches of government. The forum featured two panel discussions:
- Evacuation from combat zones in the Kharkiv region and support for individuals affected by armed aggression against Ukraine.
- Cooperation between non-governmental organizations and the Ombudsman’s Office: Achievements and future directions.
Within these panels, participants discussed the operation of transit centers, collaboration in the areas of protection and humanitarian needs, and joint efforts to overcome existing challenges in ensuring the rights and freedoms of individuals.
We are proud that Karazin University serves as a hub and active participant in such important discussions! We look forward to further developing cooperation and hosting new collaborative events!
