International Volunteer Day
Today, the world celebrates International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985.
This day we acknowledge the significant role of volunteers in building a just and united society. This celebration has gained special significance now, as the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation has changed the lives of every Ukrainian. We find ourselves defending our right to exist, fighting for our homeland on the front lines and in the rear.
Volunteers are individuals who work for the benefit of society and their homeland, not only in Ukraine but around the world. They have also stood up to defend our state and citizens. Their work is exceptionally important and challenging: volunteers assist Ukrainian military, deliver tons of humanitarian aid, provide equipment for the Armed Forces, treat the wounded, and raise funds to support those who had to escape from the war.
Ukrainians are united and doing everything possible to support our soldiers. Karazin University community, including students, staff, and schools, actively participates in volunteer initiatives. Our students, employees, and teachers engage in various projects and help those in need.
We empathize and understand each other's pain, ready to assist, work, and support while our soldiers on the front lines risk their lives and confront evil.
Congratulations on International Volunteer Day to everyone contributing to bringing our victory closer! Any help, efforts invested, and every donation is important because our strength lies in the unity and resilience of the Ukrainian nation. Together, we will prevail!
