International Mine Awareness Day and Assistance in Mine Action

4 april 2025 year

Every year on April 4, the global community draws attention to the issue of mine danger and the importance of mine action. This day, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2005, is meant to remind the world of the threats posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war, as well as to highlight the importance of mine clearance and educational efforts.

Ukraine, being one of the most heavily mined countries in the world, is currently facing large-scale challenges in the field of humanitarian demining. Educational institutions, including Karazin University, play a key role in shaping a culture of safety among young people and contribute to raising awareness about mine hazards.

What should you do if you find an explosive object?

  • Do not touch or move it.

  • Mark the location.

  • Immediately report the dangerous object to the emergency services (101 or 102).

We urge students, teachers, and all citizens to be cautious and responsible!
Everyone’s safety is in our hands.
