International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day

On this day, we remember one of the most devastating technological catastrophes in human history — the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which occurred on April 26, 1986.
Chernobyl is not only a tragedy but also a symbol of heroism. Thousands of liquidators risked their lives to stop the spread of massive radioactive contamination, to save others, and to protect future generations.
In remembering Chernobyl, we reflect on the cost of human error, and the critical importance of science, responsibility, and solidarity. It is a lesson that must never be forgotten.
Karazin University honors the memory of those who perished and expresses deep gratitude to all who stood on the front lines in the fight against the consequences of the disaster. We continue our research in the fields of ecology, radiation safety, and public health to help prevent such tragedies in the future.
We remember. We honor. We will not forget.
