The International Day for Women's Rights and International Peace
The International Day for Women's Rights and International Peace was established by the United Nations in 1977.
Today, we celebrate the achievements of women in various fields, made possible by the efforts of women in the 19th century who organized rallies to secure rights and opportunities. Women holding positions such as a woman rector, woman dean, woman professor, woman director, and woman student — all these categories exist because women have successfully gained equal rights.
During times when women could not get education, Karazin University initiated discussions on higher education for women. Vasyl Karazin was one of the first to propose introducing education for women.
Today, we specifically express gratitude to women in the military and women volunteers. Their courage knows no bounds as they carry out incredible feats in the hottest spots of Ukraine. We also remember the strong women waiting for their loved ones to return from war, those who believe, gather aid, and experience a whirlwind of emotions every day.
Karazin University actively implements projects aimed at achieving Goal 5 of sustainable development, "Gender Equality: Ensuring gender equality, expanding the rights and opportunities of all women and girls." In partnership with European universities, Karazin is implementing the project "Gender Studies and the Challenges of War in Ensuring the Sustainability of Universities in Ukraine: Networking for Excellence in Teaching and Institutional Development."
The university congratulates every woman on International Women's Day! May all your plans and dreams come true. Reach new heights and be happy. Peace and prosperity!
