International local history conference of young scientists for the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhoriy Skovoroda
On December 2, 2022, the 40th International Regional History Conference of Young Scientists took place in an online format. This year it was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhoriy Savych Skovoroda.
The organizers of the conference were the Faculty of History, the Scientific Society of Students, Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists of the Faculty of History, the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local Studies named after Academician P.T. Center of Medical Regional Studies named after Professor V. D. Otamanovsky, operating at the Kharkiv National Medical University.
On the eve of the conference, the delegation consisted of Lyudmila Posohova, professor of the Department of Ukrainian History of the Faculty of History, Serhii Kudelka, director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local Studies named after Academician P. T. Tronko, Olga Vovk, deputy director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local Studies named after Academician P. T. Tronk, Olga Vovk, doctor of philosophy of historical Oleksiy Yankula of the faculty and Yuliya Eremenko, a student of the history faculty, laid flowers at the monument to Hryhoriy Skovoroda in Kharkiv.
At the plenary session, the Vice-Rector of the Karazin University Anton Panteleimonov, the Dean of the Faculty of History Serhiy Lytovchenko and the Head of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies and Archeology of the Faculty of History Prof. Serhiy Posokhov made a welcome speech.
During the opening of the conference, Olha Soshnikova, acting director of the communal institution "M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum" presented a report "Places of Skovoroda in Kharkiv region: current state and tasks for the future". An interactive photo album "A Stopped Moment: Turning the Pages of the History of the Regional Studies Conference" was also presented, where a 40-year photo chronicle of the conference was presented.
Traditionally, within the local history conference, the authors of the best reports by section and the laureates of three creative prizes were determined. There was also a lottery for the anniversary of the conference, where valuable gifts were drawn.
In the conditions of a full-scale invasion and quarantine, young scientists from different parts of Ukraine and abroad managed to successfully present their scientific works in an online format, raise topical issues and problems in local history studies. This indicates that this direction of historical research is developing and is promising.
