This year's local history conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Kharkiv Local History Commission under the leadership of Dmytro Zelenin and Oleksandr Fedorovsky. It included the patriarchs of Kharkiv local history, the pride of Karazin University, academicians Dmytro Bagalii and Dmytro Yavornitsky. The Kharkiv Slobozhanska Commission initiated the first All-Ukrainian Local History Conference, held in Kharkiv from May 25 to 28, 1925, which brought together 75 delegates from all regions of Ukraine.
Before the start of the section work, a plenary session was held, featuring honorary guests such as the Vice-Rector of Karazin University Oleksandr Holovko, the Dean of the School of History Serhii Lytovchenko, and the Head of the Institute of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archeology of the School of History Serhii Posokhov.
A presentation of a series of new publications on local history topics also took place. Creative awards for the authors of the best reports were presented by the Director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local History named after Academician P.T. Tronko Serhii Kudelko, the Deputy Director Olga Vovk, and the Associate Professor of the Institute of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archeology Olga Pavlova.
The conference consisted of 12 sections, with the participation of students, postgraduates, and young scientists not only from Kharkiv region but also from various cities of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Nizhyn, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, as well as representatives of evacuated institutions from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and guests from Uzbekistan.
Traditionally, the best report authors were determined in each section, and three creative awards were presented.
Despite the challenges of the second year of the full-scale invasion, young researchers from different corners of Ukraine and abroad successfully presented their scientific achievements online, addressing relevant issues and problems in local history studies. This is evidence that this direction in historical research is actively developing and promising.
Sincere thanks to co-organizers, participants, and everyone who contributed to this year's conference! We continue to work for the victory of Ukraine and look forward to new meetings in offline format.
