Medical Component of the Educational and Scientific Cluster “Karazin University — for Students of the Metro School and the Underground School in Kharkiv”
On December 5, 2025, a leading specialist-instructor of the Simulation Center of the School of Medicine, together with the Institute of Continuing Education of Karazin University, continued the implementation of the practical activities of the educational and scientific cluster “Karazin University — for Students of the Metro School and the Underground School in Kharkiv,” which has been successfully operating for the second year in a row.
The participants of this important practical event, held under martial law, were 35 students of grades 10–11 of various specializations from the Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Lyceum No. 104 of the Kharkiv City Council.” The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the cooperation agreement between the lyceum and Karazin University, and the “Memorandum of Cooperation between V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the Education Department of the Administration of the Industrialnyi District of the Kharkiv City Council.”
Opening the cluster “Provision of Basic First Aid,” Mykhailo Tatarynov, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, introduced the participants to the scenario of the training and its practical stages. He also presented Ivan Rudas, the leading specialist-instructor of the Simulation Center of the University’s School of Medicine.

The practical session led by Ivan Rudas included informative content and a three-stage training on controlling different types of bleeding. The students learned to identify critical bleeding, practiced applying tourniquets to one another, determined the type of bleeding, and performed exercises in wound packing. After each training stage, Ivan Rudas drew the students’ attention to common mistakes that occurred during attempts to stop critical bleeding, especially considering the limited time available for providing basic first aid.

Summing up the cluster activities, Mykhailo Tatarynov emphasized to the students — potential applicants — the opportunity to continue higher education at the School of Medicine and the Second School of Medicine of Karazin University, to gain high-quality professional medical training, and to become highly qualified physicians and healthcare professionals dedicated to saving lives and supporting people’s health.

Oksana Teslenko, Director of the Lyceum and Associate Professor, expressed sincere gratitude to the administration of Karazin University for the effective, practice-oriented cooperation within the framework of the cluster’s tasks.
