On January 18, the project "Unity Week" was launched. All interested individuals have the opportunity to attend offline lectures on the issues of Ukrainian unity and statehood.
The lecture series began with Olga Vovk's presentation on the topic: "The Historical Role of Karazin University in the Consolidation of Ukraine."
The lecturer discussed how representatives of Karazin University contributed to the consolidation of Ukrainian territories. An interesting fact was that the first lecture in the Ukrainian language in 1807 by the Dean of the School of Medicine, Pavlo Shumlyansky.
Participants learned about the phenomenon of the founding of Karazin University, its role as the driving force behind the development of Kharkiv and the region, the activities of students, teachers, staff, alumni, Honorary members, and doctors of the university from its inception. Olga Vovk specifically addressed prominent figures such as Ivan Franko, Henryk Semyrada, Mykola Lysenko, Les Kurbas, Yuri Shevelov, and their contributions to the consolidation of Ukraine. Within the lecture, gratitude was also expressed to colleagues (educators and researchers) from Western Ukraine who extended a helping hand from the early days of the full-scale invasion.
At the end of the lecture, a lively discussion took place regarding the dissident movement in the Kharkiv region and the key figures of Karazin University.
