Karazin Representatives Participated in the Roundtable "Science and Research in Ukraine"

In early November, Berlin hosted events commemorating the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, organized by the Falling Walls Foundation.

Among these events was the roundtable discussion titled "Science and Research in Ukraine," held on November 8.

The discussion featured many prominent scientists and influential figures, including: Adam Falk, President of the Sloan Foundation; Andrzej Sheptytsky, Deputy Secretary of State of Poland's Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Kimberly Budil, Director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; David Blaschke, Professor at Wrocław University; Helmut Dosch, Director of the German Electron Synchrotron (DESY); Michael Schaeffer, President of the European Innovation Council (EIC); Patrick Cramer, President of the Max Planck Society (MPG); Stefan Albani, Member of the German Bundestag; and Welf Zeller, Ukraine Liaison Coordinator for the Fraunhofer Society (Germany).

Representing Ukraine were Ihor Hirka, Vice President of the Ukrainian Physical Society and Professor at the Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Technology" of Karazin University, and Mykola Liubiv, First Deputy Executive Director of the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine.

The discussion assessed the challenges faced by science and education in Ukraine and identified urgent needs for support, focusing on international aid programs, modern equipment, research funding, and addressing the issue of brain drain.

The goal of the roundtable was to promote the long-term sustainability and global integration of Ukrainian science.
