Karazinites Congratulate University Alumnus and Honorary Doctor, Academician Volodymyr Storozhko, on His Birthday

29 october 2025 year

On October 26, the distinguished Ukrainian scientist in the field of experimental nuclear physics of low and medium energies, Honorary Doctor of Karazin University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Scientist and Technologist of Ukraine, and alumnus of the Nuclear Department of Kharkiv (now Karazin) University, Class of 1958 — Volodymyr Yukhymovych Storozhko — celebrated his 90th birthday.

Through his efforts, the Institute of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Sumy was founded in 1991, where he served as Director until 2024. The world of science owes to Volodymyr Yukhymovych the development of a new approach to the study of nuclear levels — the method of averaged resonances, which made it possible to obtain unique data on the quantum characteristics of nuclei.

Under his leadership, the Institute of Applied Physics has been working on extending the service life of reactor vessels at Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Academician Storozhko is also the initiator of the development of a nuclear medicine program in Ukraine.

The Karazin community warmly congratulates Respected Volodymyr Yukhymovych on his birthday and wishes him new accomplishments and continued success!
