Karazinites Congratulates University Representative Mykhailo Bondarenko on his 90th Birthday

On October 12, we celebrated the 90th anniversary of the birth of a distinguished economist, educator, and public figure whose life and career are closely connected with Karazin University — Mykhailo Ivanovych Bondarenko.

A graduate of Kharkiv (now Karazin) University, Mykhailo Ivanovych devoted his life to the development of economic education and science. He served as Vice-Rector of the University, Dean of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens, Advisor to the Rector of Havana Pedagogical Institute (Cuba), and later as Dean of the School of Economics.

Under his leadership, the School experienced a period of significant transformation: new departments were established, the academic staff was strengthened, curricula were modernized, and innovative teaching methods and computerization were introduced. During these years, economic education at the University gained new substance, aligning with the demands of a market economy and international standards.

Mykhailo Ivanovych Bondarenko is a Honored Economist of Ukraine, an Academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine, and the author and co-author of textbooks, including “Economic Theory”, which has received wide recognition among scholars and educators.

The Karazin community sincerely honors Mykhailo Ivanovych as an outstanding organizer, scholar, and mentor who laid the foundation for the modern Faculty of Economics.
