On May 22–23, 2025, the Lutsk Youth Textile Forum was held at Lutsk National Technical University, bringing together faculty members and students from the Department of Food Technologies, Light Industry and Design of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogics Academy.”

The event took place within the framework of the international project TEX4YUA — Sustainable Excellence for Ukrainian Youth in the Textile and Garment Industry, supported by the Swedish Institute’s SI Baltic Sea Neighbourhood Programme.

At the opening of the forum, participants were welcomed by representatives of Lutsk National Technical University:

  • Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical Work and Digital Transformation Roman Hrudetskyi,

  • Dean of the School of Customs Affairs, Materials and Technologies, Professor Valentyna Tkachuk,

  • Head of the NGO “Innovative Generation” Volodymyr Serheiev,

  • Deputy Head of the International Relations Office at Karazin University Roman Nesterenko.

The project coordinator, Tusher Biswas, a researcher at the Department of Textile Technology at the University of Borås (Sweden), welcomed the participants and presented the TEX4YUA project.

A project manager from the Swedish Institute introduced participants to current project and scholarship opportunities available through the Swedish Institute and encouraged Ukrainian students and educators to actively engage with the opportunities offered by Sweden.

Participants then listened to and discussed presentations from key speakers and industry experts, including:

  • Professor Inna Cherkesova from the School of Culture and Arts of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, who presented “Stylistic Concept of Southern Ukraine in Tapestry Art”;

  • Olha Ostapchuk, Chief Technologist at the textile company “Edelvika,” who spoke about “Application of Innovative Technologies in Textile Production”;

  • Tetiana Pushkarova, Development Manager at “Reinventex LLC,” who gave a talk on “EU Eco-Design Regulation: The Future of Sustainable Development in the Textile and Fashion Industry”;

  • Natalia Paul, Director of the company “MEHASCENA,” who presented “Energy Efficiency in Textile Production in Ukraine.”

As part of the event, the delegation visited the ethno-park “Ladomyriia”, where they learned about the traditional fabric production process and tried their hand at medieval fabric-making techniques.

The second day began with a visit to the Department of Light Industry Technologies for the opening of a modern 3D Hub for clothing design — a space where students can master digital tools for modeling and visualizing garments, which is highly relevant in today's light industry.

The visit continued with a fashion show featuring clothing collections created by students and graduates of higher education institutions.

Karazin University was represented by the collection titled “My Dear Kharkiv.”

The visit concluded with a tour of the unique textile enterprise “Edelvika,” which features a full production cycle — from fabric manufacturing to finished textile products.
