On October 10, 2025, the annual European Fusion Teacher Day took place, a traditional educational online event for science and physics teachers across Europe. The event was organized by the FuseNet network, of which V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is a member.

The event consisted of two sessions: a national and a pan-European one. Over thirty teachers and high school students participated in the Ukrainian session.

Yelyzaveta Mala, a 2022 graduate of the School of Physics and Technology at Karazin University and currently a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics in Germany, gave a presentation titled “From Plasma to Spintronics: A Journey through Thin Films.” She is involved in a joint project with Karazin University to establish a Core of Excellence Plasma-Spin-Energy laboratory.

Yevhen Kazakov, a 2007 graduate of the same school and now a researcher at the Royal Military Academy Plasma Physics Laboratory in Brussels, Belgium, and recipient of the 2018 Landau-Spitzer Award of the American Physical Society, spoke about the development of the European fusion program.

Yuliia Volkova, a 2019 graduate of the School of Physics and Technology and now a senior researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the National Science Center Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (NSC KIPT), delivered a presentation titled “NSC KIPT Plasma Accelerators: The Path to New Technologies.”

The Ukrainian session concluded with a presentation by Yurii Kovtun, coordinator of the Euratom–Fusion National Contact Point in Ukraine, who highlighted Ukraine’s participation in the Horizon Europe and EUROfusion programs.

During the pan-European session, the FuseNet leadership recognized the efforts of the faculty members of Karazin University’s School of Physics and Technology, who were the first to translate free educational materials on plasma physics and nuclear fusion from English into Ukrainian. These materials are available on the websites of the School of Physics and Technology, the Euratom National Contact Point in Ukraine, and the FuseNet platform.

Presentations and links to the event video will be available on the website of the Euratom National Contact Point in Ukraine, which provided technical support for the Ukrainian session.
