Karazin University Participants Join the German Conference on High-Frequency Wave Physics
From March 9 to 11, 2026, the German Conference on High-Frequency Wave Physics was held at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany).
The conference venue was chosen for a reason: it was here that Heinrich Rudolf Hertz made his groundbreaking discoveries. Today, the institute is one of Europe’s leading scientific centers for the development of gyrotrons.
The conference brought together over 300 representatives from applied science and industry worldwide.
Discussions focused on the successes and challenges of applying high-frequency electromagnetic waves in various industries, including communications, automotive, controlled thermonuclear fusion, drilling, and even demining.
Professor Ihor Hirka from the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology” presented the report:
“Surface Flute Wave Excitation by Annular Electron Beam for Microwave Generation.”
The report was co-authored with Professor Manfred Thumm, an honorary doctor of Karazin University.
Together, they also chaired the session on “High-Power High-Frequency Waves.”
