Karazin University Students Contributed to the Organization of the City Tournament of Young Physicists
From November 24th to 26th, 2023, the XXXII Kharkiv City Tournament of Young Physicists took place in an online format.
Participating in the tournament were 9 teams from city secondary education institutions and a team from the Kharkiv Science Lyceum "Talent" of the Kharkiv Regional Council.
Despite challenging conditions, the event sparked significant interest, bringing together scientists, educators, team leaders, students, and pupils from different countries worldwide and cities across Ukraine. Among the 50 participants, 8 students were located in European countries during preparation and the competition, 6 in various regions of Ukraine, and 36 in Kharkiv.
The tournament jury consisted of professors and students from the Institute of Physics and Technology and the School of Physics of Karazin University, winners of international student and student physics tournaments. Traditionally, the jury was led by corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Scientist and Technologist of Ukraine, Professor at the Institute of Physics and Technology of Karazin University, Igor Hirka.
The star presenters of this year's tournament were:
Hero of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of Kharkiv, Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, teacher at Kharkiv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum 27 Ilya Gelfgat; Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Professor of Physics of Karazin University Zakhar Maiselis; Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Research Institute of Astronomy of Karazin University Oleksiy Holubov; Three-time winner of the International Student Physics Tournament, graduate of the Institute of Physics and Technology, graduate student at the Kastler Brossel Laboratory, CNRS University of Sorbonne (France) Kyrylo Herashchenko.
The results of the competition showed that the team "Momentum" consisting of students from KhL No. 161 "Impulse" and KhNFML No. 27, led by Zakhar Maiselis, secured the top spot on the podium of honor and earned the honor of representing Kharkiv at the All-Ukrainian Tournament of Young Physicists.
Three teams were awarded second-degree diplomas: "Six Degrees of Freedom" from Saltivka district, "Quark" from Kholodnohirsk district, and Kharkiv Science Lyceum "Talent" of the Kharkiv Regional Council.
The third place was taken by the team "Electrum" from Novobavarsky district and the team "Isotopes" from Slobozhansky district.
