Students of the Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Engineering" at Karazin University Illia Demidenko, Artem Dehtiarov, and Danylo Maslo are successfully completing their internship in the field of Small Modular Reactors as part of the Ukraine Summer Internship Argonne National Laboratory Program 2025.

From July 21 to August 8, 2025, the Ukraine Summer Internship Program is taking place at the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, bringing together students from Ukrainian universities. Organized in cooperation with Argonne National Laboratory (USA), the program offers participants a valuable opportunity to explore technologies related to Small Modular Reactors, the latest trends in nuclear and radiation safety, and other key aspects of the nuclear energy sector in Ukraine and around the world.

As part of the internship, on August 5, 2025, the students took part in a technical visit to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, including the third and fourth power units of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP). During the visit, they had the opportunity to see the control rooms of Units 3 and 4, step inside the New Safe Confinement structure over Unit 4, learn more about the causes and consequences of the Chornobyl disaster, and hear stories of those who gave their lives to mitigate the impact of the most devastating nuclear accident in human history.

We wish our students continued success and inspiration as they move forward on their paths in the nuclear field!
