Karazin University graduates achieve outstanding results and set world records not only in science.
In 2024, Valentyn Sypavin, a graduate of the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, and one of Ukraine’s strongest mountaineers and ice climbers, successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest. With this accomplishment, he set two new national records — for climbing Everest seven times and Lhotse three times. This is an unprecedented achievement in the history of Ukrainian mountaineering.
Before this, Valentyn had climbed Everest six times — in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024.
This is truly incredible and once again proves the unbreakable spirit of Karazin community members, their will to win, and remarkable endurance!
