Karazin Impresses: The First University Lecture in Ukrainian took place on the Left Bank of Ukraine

Karazin University always leads the way, keeping up with the times, unafraid to take bold actions and set new trends.

And it has been this way since its very foundation.

Did you know that in 1905, after numerous prohibitions, renowned folklorist, ethnographer, historian, literary scholar, and public figure Mykola Sumtsov delivered the first-ever university lecture in Ukrainian on the entire territory of Left-Bank Ukraine? And it happened right at Karazin University.

At the time, this was a remarkably brave step.
