Karazin University Congratulates on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine

1 october 2025 year

October 1 is a special day for the Ukrainian people. Today we celebrate three holidays at once: the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks, and the Feast of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.

Each of these significant days symbolizes the continuity of the glorious traditions of the Ukrainian warrior spirit, which originates in the princely era and Cossack valor, passes through the turbulent pages of the struggle for independence, and is embodied today in the heroism of modern defenders. It is thanks to you — strong in spirit and devoted to your homeland with all your heart — that we have the opportunity to study, create science, preserve culture, and build the future.

Karazin University bows its head in deep respect before those who defend the independence and freedom of Ukrainian land, who sacrifice their lives and health to protect each of us. You are our heroes, our pride, and our hope.

On the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, a solemn laying of flowers took place at the memorial plaque dedicated to the University’s staff and students who gave their lives defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland, showing courage and heroism in the battles for independence.

Eternal memory to those who gave their lives for Ukraine.

Our deepest gratitude to those who hold the sky above our native land today.

Happy holiday, dear defenders! May strength, courage, and faith in Victory always be with you.
