Delegation from Poland Visited Karazin University

On December 3, 2024, a Polish delegation visited Karazin University, consisting of Jan Malicki, the Director of the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw, and Yaroslav Goćun, the Director of the Polish Institute in Kyiv.

The Karazin University was represented by Zarif Nazirov, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching; Tetyana Krasnenkova, Deputy Head of the International Relations Office; Yevheniya Chekareva, Dean of the School of Philology; Ihor Biletsky, Associate Professor of the School of Philosophy; Kateryna Lyskov, Deputy Director of the Central Scientific Library; Olha Vovk, Deputy Director of the P.T. Tronka Centre for Ukrainian Studies and Local Lore; and representatives from the Kharkiv City Council: Deputy Directors of the Department of International Cooperation, Alisa Panova and Mykhailo Dolzhenko.

The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of prospects for Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in education, science, and culture.

The delegation was introduced to the events organized by the School of Philology with the participation of students and schoolchildren from Kharkiv, as well as from Donetsk, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The Polish delegation expressed admiration for the popularity of the "Polish Language" program offered at the School of Philology of Karazin University and noted the growing interest among students in learning Polish.

The guests learned about Polish incunabula held at the Central Scientific Library and the agreements for the transfer of new Polish books to the university from the Polish Institute in Kyiv.

Representatives from the Kharkiv City Council presented the idea of the cultural project "Poems in the Metro," aimed at strengthening ties between sister cities and demonstrating the unity of the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.

Additionally, participants were introduced to projects from the P.T. Tronka Centre for Ukrainian Studies and Local Lore, including those supported by Poland since the start of the full-scale war.

Jan Malicki emphasized the opportunities for Ukrainian educators to participate in programs and scholarships offered within the Consortium of Ukrainian Universities and the University of Warsaw.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged ideas about further cooperation and the implementation of joint projects that would deepen academic and cultural ties between Ukraine and Poland.
