Karazin University Expands Practical Collaboration with Newly Established Academic Lyceums of the Kharkiv Region
On 27 November 2025, as part of the implementation of priority tasks under the cooperation agreement between Karazin University and the Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Academic Lyceum ‘INTEL 13’” of the Kharkiv Regional Council, the Institute of Continuing Education, the Central Scientific Library, and the School of Philology, a master class titled “Specialization of Philological Education and Library Science at Karazin University: Discourse, Competency-Based Approach, and Practical Focus” was held for 7th–10th grade students, teachers of English, Ukrainian language and literature, the lyceum librarian, and the administration.

Library Platform Activities
During the work of the library platform, Kateryna Lyskova, Deputy Director of the Central Scientific Library, together with library staff, conducted practical sessions for participants based on the Department of Intercultural Communication and Project Activities, the Digital Resources, Software and Computer Support and Collection Digitization Department, the Reader Services Department, and the Scientific and Bibliographic Department.

English-Language Platform
Within the English-language platform at the Window on America (WOA) Information Center, lyceum students and teachers improved their spoken English through Speaking Clubs, learned to work with a 3D printer and 3D scanner, and, while engaging with fiction, academic literature, and English-language magazines, demonstrated their linguistic competencies and practical communication skills for educational and everyday contexts.

Philology Platform
The philology platform began with welcoming remarks from Yevheniia Chekareva, Dean of the School of Philology, who introduced participants to the history and current state of specialist training at the faculty, highlighting the combination of classical philological foundations with modern digital technologies, editorial work, and artificial intelligence. A quest activity titled “How Well Do You Know the Ukrainian Language?” was conducted for students and teachers by Artem Bychyhyn, a representative of the Department of Ukrainian Language.

At the final stage of the event, Halyna Mykhailenko, Director of Lyceum “INTEL 13,” expressed gratitude to the Rector, University administration, and organizers for the well-designed and engaging activities conducted within the thematic master class.

Summarizing the results, Mykhailo Tatarinov, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, emphasized the importance of actively applying the competencies acquired by students and teachers in both curricular and extracurricular work. Administrative representatives and teachers received professional development certificates, while students were presented with valuable educational gifts from Kateryna Lyskova for use in their learning process.
