Karazin University at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Developing Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions”

On 28 November 2025, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv hosted the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Developing Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions”, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG-2015).

The conference brought together leading higher education administrators and scholars, as well as representatives of major universities across Ukraine.

Karazin University was represented by Borys Samorodov, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching, who spoke during the panel discussion “ESG-2015 and Institutional Transformations in Ukrainian Universities.”

In his presentation, he outlined the university’s experience in implementing ESG principles, cultivating a quality-oriented institutional culture, and engaging faculty, students, and employers in the internal quality assurance system. He also shared the outcomes of the university’s participation in the British Council’s pilot project on training educational managers.

Participants also discussed the challenges of a decade of ESG implementation, the relationship between internal educational quality and the international recognition of Ukrainian qualifications, as well as ways to prevent the formalization of procedures within quality assurance systems.
