Karazin University geographers got on the pages of Times Higher Education
On February 25, the website of the British magazine Times Higher Education, which specializes in news and various aspects of higher education, published an article about Karazin University geographers dedicated to the anniversary of the war in Ukraine.
The material deals with the changes that have taken place in higher education in our country in connection with the full-scale invasion, in particular with the problems faced by science departments, for which field practices are one of the mandatory conditions for the successful preparation of students.

One of the international initiatives designed to help Karazin University geographers maintain the high quality of student training at their faculty was the organization of online master classes dedicated to creating virtual field trips. The holding of these events was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of Dr. Simon Hutchinson from the University of Salford (Great Britain), who is the main speaker at these master classes, and the teaching staff of the Department of Physical Geography and Cartography of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism: Associate Professor Natalia Popovych, associate professor Kateryna Borysenko and senior teacher Vladyslav Popov.
The activity includes three master classes for students and employees, which cover the entire process of creating virtual tours on the Thinglink platform — from content preparation to receiving the final result. These technologies are extremely relevant, taking into account the fact of the forced temporary transition of field practices of the faculty to a remote format.
The virtual tour provides not only a visual component (with the possible effect of presence under the conditions of using VR helmets), close to reality, but also provides for the presence of many interactive elements that allow to significantly expand its informational and educational value.
We are sincerely grateful to the British partners for educational and informational support, and we hope that very soon students and teachers will meet again in the walls of Karazin University!
