The International Young Physicists Tournament (IYPT) started
On July 19th at Kohsar Murray University in Pakistan the next International Young Physicists Tournament commenced. The Ukrainian team from Kharkiv has been diligently prepared by Associate Professor of the Physics Department at Karazin Kharkiv National University and teacher at Kharkiv Lyceum No. 161 "Impulse," Zahar Maizelis. The team is accompanied by leading scientists from the Research Institute of Astronomy at Karazin Kharkiv National University, Oleksiy Holubov, and a student from school of physics Ilya Khoroshko.
The team comprises Ivan Bortnovsky, Anna Belyaeva, and Anton Bukhtatiy from Lyceum No. 161, as well as Mykyta Kirpichov and Kyrylo Vladiko from Kharkiv Lyceum of No. 27 of Physics and Mathematics.
The International Young Physicists Tournament (IYPT) is one of the most prestigious international physics competitions for high school students, held annually in different countries worldwide, bringing together students from all continents.
In 2022, the participants from 25 countries took part in the XXXV International Young Physicists Tournament. Taking part in the tournament is widely recognized as an indicator of students' level of preparation and an important factor for admission to the most prestigious universities in the world.
Ukraine has been participating in the tournament since its inception, but its highest achievements have been gained in recent years when the team "Impulse Moment" from Kharkiv represented our country. Despite significant challenges, the team managed to prepare in an online format and won silver medals at the 2022 tournament.
