On April 30, Kharkiv became a hub for discussing pathways to integrate Ukrainian business and science into the European innovation ecosystem. The EIT Info Day brought together representatives of the tech sector, universities, local authorities, and international partners to explore opportunities for cooperation with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the Horizon Europe program.
Key Highlights of the Event:
- Speaker Presentations
– Olha Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, provided an in-depth overview of grant opportunities and funding mechanisms for innovative projects.
– Ihor Markevych, EIT Community Officer, presented EIT’s support programs for businesses, startups, and universities, along with opportunities offered by Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).
- Signing of a Strategic Memorandum
Kharkiv IT Cluster, acting as the coordinator of Eastern Ukraine EDIH, officially signed a memorandum of cooperation with the EIT Community Hub Ukraine — a part of the larger European innovation ecosystem. This agreement strengthens support for Ukrainian enterprises in digital transformation, international cooperation, and integration into the EU tech landscape.
- Eastern Ukraine EDIH Round Table
The second part of the event featured an open discussion in an unconventional roundtable format. Participants — including representatives of business, academia, government, and civil society — worked in five thematic zones, addressing challenges in digital transformation, barriers to entering international markets, and practical solutions for innovation-driven growth. This format enabled the collection of diverse perspectives and the development of tangible mechanisms to support tech businesses.
- Why Is This Important?
Eastern Ukraine EDIH is a European Digital Innovation Hub that supports companies and communities in Eastern Ukraine in implementing technologies, increasing efficiency, and scaling internationally. Collaboration with EIT opens access to funding, educational programs, and strategic partnerships within the pan-European innovation space.
Sincere thanks to all participants, partners, and organizers for the productive discussions and new opportunities for regional development.
